Hi! My name is Lisa J. Scherfel. I am a mother of two children, married to a great husband and living in Wexford, PA. I had been in professional sales for over 23 years but became another statistic in a massive corporate downsizing. Instead of continuing to explore job opportunities in the corporate world, I decided to pursue my dreams of entrepreneurship.

I came up with a concept about a year ago based on my daughter’s excitement over animal pencil toppers. Every Saturday morning my daughter Maya and I would shop at the local grocery store. She would run to the machines, putting quarter after quarter in, hoping for the “Elephant” or the “Pig!” Inevitably I was spending more than I should have in order to obtain the animal she desired!

When Maya went to kindergarten, her and all of her friends were trading and collecting the animal pencil toppers. At that point I thought, “why not package them in a way so that you know what you’re getting every time? Also, create various themes adding pencils and educational fact cards to match each pet!” As a result, Pedestal Pets^® was born.
